2026 Annual Show

The Spondon Horticultural Society was first mentioned in 1862, with shows divided into classes for Gentry, Farmers, and Cottagers—many winning families still known in Spondon today.

By 1869, it had become the “Horticultural Fete,” a major village event held in a large tent, featuring impressive displays from Locko Hall and Spondon Hall and drawing crowds from Derby and surrounding villages.

Though smaller today, the annual Flower and Vegetable Show continues, preserving a proud tradition.
